Commonwealth SC welcomes coach Jim Tussey as new Director

CSC is pleased to welcome Coach Jim Tussey as our new Technical Director. He will also coach the 03 Boys Black team.

Coach Tussey is well known in the central Kentucky area — he has a wealth of coaching experience at both college and club levels, and we are thrilled to have him at CSC. He has been involved in motivating and empowering youth to achieve excellence both on and off the field for the past 25 years. His technical training and coaching experience include college, Olympic Development, high school and competitive youth.

Tussey served as head coach for the men and women’s soccer teams at Georgetown College for 15 years, accumulating over 300 wins and several top 20 rankings while at the helm. In addition to being named conference coach of the year four times, 48 of his student-athletes were named All-Scholar athletes, 33 All-Conference players and 6 College All-Americans.

Coach Tussey has also served as Head Coach for the Kentucky State Olympic Development Program for 15 years. He was named a Region 2 regional coach in 2006. He has won several Kentucky Youth Soccer State Championships and in 2007 was recognized as the Kentucky Youth Competitive Soccer Coach of the Year.

 

Jim Tussey Bio

Dr. James (Jim) Tussey has been involved in motivating and empowering youth to achieve excellence both on and off the field for the past 25 years. He has technical training and coaching experience at numerous levels, including college, Olympic Development, high school and competitive youth. Tussey served as Head Coach for the men and women’s soccer teams at Georgetown College for 15 years, accumulating over 300 wins and several top 20 rankings while at the helm. In addition to being named conference coach of the year four times, 48 of his student-athletes were named All-Scholar athletes, 33 All-Conference players and 6 College All-Americans.

Tussey has also served as Head Coach for the Kentucky State Olympic Development Program for 15 years. He was named a Region 2 regional coach in 2006. Furthermore, Tussey has served as a Head Coach and Technical Director for several clubs throughout the region. He has won several Kentucky Youth Soccer State Championships and in 2007 was recognized as the Kentucky Youth Competitive Soccer Coach of the Year.

In addition to coaching, Tussey has served as a college instructor and as an administrator in both Athletics and Career Development Departments. Tussey earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Asbury College, and Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky in Educational Psychology. Additionally, he holds his NSCAA Advanced National and National coaching licenses and USSF Youth National Coaching License. Tussey, also traveled abroad and studied the Dutch youth training systems with both the KNVB and Ajax youth development teams. He has coached and competed with teams in England, Holland, Germany, Italy and Mexico. In his pastime, he enjoys traveling, reading and learning more about the greatest game.
